Need a Break?
We all do! Unfortunately, many of us feel that we do not have time to take a break, or at least one that is long enough to be effective. But never fear! The GRCC Virtual Corner team has compiled multiple ideas for truly refreshing breaks of various lengths. Check them out below!
Some Ideas
5 minutes: Make a snack, stretch, organize or tidy your workspace, plan the rest of your goals for the day, pick a reward for when you're done with these goals, spend time with pets.
10-15 minutes: Play an instrument, journal, watch a Youtube video, pace and stretch, read a blog post, send a text message to a friend.
30 minutes - 1 hour: Go for a walk, meditate, take a nap, scroll through social media, watch one episode of TV, eat a meal, call a friend or family member, run an errand, read a chapter of a book.

A day or weekend: Take a hike, read a book, work on a passion project, stay in your PJ's all day, clean your room/house, hang out (virtually) with a friend or group of friends, drive out to Lake Michigan, make checklists to plan ahead, try a new recipe, binge Netflix (yes, I recommend you do this occasionally!).
A week: Do a little homework (scattered throughout), spend time with friends and family, go camping, sleep in, spend lots of time on hobbies, do some gourmet cooking, learn something new, read for hours on end, complete some tasks you've been putting off, try a new workout.

Technology overload?
We get it. The increased online requirements students face guarantee that most of us spend hours a day in front of our computers. Too much screen time can negatively affect our sleep schedules (read this article to learn more). However, there are ways we can stem the negative effects of too much screen time, particularly by making sure we are taking breaks away from our devices. In addition to the ideas given above, this article details creative ways you can step away from the screen.
